Pharmacy Design and Construction

There is a generic type of pharmacy which is ubiquitous in Athens neighborhoods developed out of an antiquated notion of functionality. We were commissioned to renovate a pharmacy in the Kato Patissia area, a typical Athens neighborhood covered in drab apartment buildings. We stripped it down to structural elements as a less is more type of critique of the surrounding architecture. This gave the design a vocabulary of simple materials and also through maintaining existing elements such as the 1980's window frames, kept costs down.
